Take Time for the Little Things

At the risk of sounding repetitive: I need reminders often to count my blessings and make the most out of the little moments of my life. Life is made up of little things, and hurrying from one chore to the next makes Julie a dull mom. This cannot be stressed enough for me.

After the hectic week we just had, I was in desperate need of a recharge. Since I acheived 45 lbs. lost today, I decided to treat myself to one of my favorite snacks: Snyder's of Hanover Honey Mustard and Onion pretzels. TWO HELPINGS WORTH.

The little boys were in different stages of needing baths...should I scrub them up quick and get them out so I could run and hide in my room to enjoy my treat? I decided instead to let them have a "play bath", as opposed to a "hurry-up-and-get-clean bath". My older boys, who are pretty much in charge of their own hygiene now, have these terms seared into their mind and still ask if they can take a play bath. You may wonder at this point, what kind of mom am I that my boys beg for baths?

I settled myself next to the tub with my bowl of deliciousness. It wasn't a book I was enjoying this time (fortunately, for as much as I got splashed), but it was the little thing I needed at that moment. The giggles from my happy little guys, as their fingers and toes turned to raisins, were the icing on the cake. Or honey mustard pretzels?
