Scale Saturday 2018: Week 7

This one is hopefully going to be short and sweet (my words tend to run away from me, something I'm trying to moderate). Eli is taking me out today for my birthday since he works on the actual day. I need to clean the front porch for the week yet, finish dishes, bathe the two littlest, and wrap up laundry before we head out after lunch.

Speaking of, running seven persons' clothing up stairs (without baskets) to put them away is great exercise! I usually have the three oldest boys put their own clothes away, but the last couple weeks I've opted to just do it myself. Oh the burning leg muscles. So good.

For any of you who weren't along for the first blogged weight loss journey, I'm pretty much following the same M.O. this time around. This is a link to the post describing my weight-loss routine.

This week, with Lent upon us, I didn't struggle with fasting like I have in the past. I now keep my food within the Lenten "three meals a day, two small that don't equal the size of the larger meal" instead eating a little something throughout the day, but the amount of food is about the same. I've been craving southwest style food so I've had some version of a southwest salad almost every day this week. Options for toppings: 2 oz. chicken breast, black beans (which substitute nicely for meat when I can't have it), cheddar cheese, onions, corn, tomatoes, olives, cilantro, sour cream (or Greek yogurt), and salsa or taco sauce.

Best part of where I'm at on this journey right now: not feeling enslaved by my body. I have a long way to go yet, but everything I do now is easier. Clothes fit better, carrying my babies is easier, putting boots on is less of a struggle. And God has given me the grace to see that, even when I have an apparent bad week, or two, it gets better if I persevere and keep smiling through it. Fake it till you make it, right?

Edited to add: if you have to be out and about today, please slow down and be mindful of other drivers! The roads are nasty in our neck of the woods today!
