King's Hawaiian Ham and Cheese Sliders

This was lunch today, thanks to Eli finding the recipe on King's Hawaiian's site and then running to the store to get a couple ingredients we were missing. (Have I mentioned how much I love when he has the day off?) These sandwiches are so good and hard to walk away from.... I doubled this recipe to feed our family, and they paired beautifully with German Potato Salad. The recipe can be found by clicking this link.

Ham and Cheese Sliders

Ingredients
  • 1 lb. shaved deli ham (I used slices from a bone-in ham we just baked)
  • 1 lb. Swiss cheese, sliced (I used 1/2 lb. Swiss, 1/2 lb. Habanero cheese from the Amish-Thank you, Pam!)
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp. minced dried onion
  • 1 12 count package King's Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Dinner Rolls
Melt butter and mix in mustard, sauce, and onion.

Cut the entire pack of rolls in half, horizontally. Lay the tops over the bottoms and peel rolls apart.

In a 9x13 inch pan (baking sheet if you're doubling the recipe) place the bottom half of rolls and cover with ham and cheese.

Make sure you separate rolls before baking to aid in cheese meltation.

Place top halves of rolls over stacks of ham and cheese.

Drizzle butter mixture over rolls, making sure onion is evenly distributed.

Our house is so chilly there was no drizzling action going on by the time I got to this step. Thankfully, smearing the mustard butter seemed to work just fine.

*Refrigerate overnight. (I skipped this step; I don't have time for such foolishness.)

Bake uncovered at 350° for 15-20 minutes, making sure tops of rolls are not too close to the element or the tops will toast too fast without melting all the cheese.

Enjoy!
